On October 17, 2024, two significant events highlighted Baguio City’s commitment to cultural preservation and social development: the launch of the 1st Tapey Festival and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Irisville Condominium Residences.

Celebrating Indigenous Heritage: The 1st Tapey Festival

In celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month, Baguio proudly hosted its inaugural Tapey Festival, a vibrant tribute to the region’s indigenous heritage and traditions. Tapey, a traditional rice wine deeply rooted in the culture of the Cordillera peoples, symbolizes unity, celebration, and the rich tapestry of indigenous practices.

The festival showcased the art of Tapey-making, traditional dances, music, and storytelling. It served as a platform to honor the wisdom of elders and the resilience of indigenous communities while fostering appreciation among younger generations. The Tapey Festival not only preserved cultural heritage but also highlighted the potential for cultural tourism to contribute to Baguio’s economy and identity as a creative city.

Paving the Way for Affordable Housing: Irisville Condominium Residences

On October 17, 2024, in collaboration with Team MakaBaguio, Councilor Maria Mylen Victoria Yaranon spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for the Irisville Condominium Residences in Irisan, Baguio City.
